Ropes fixing to the peak of Everest completed, climbing opens

According to the Department of Tourism, the responsibility of managing the route of the Khumbu Icefall, which is on the climbing route of Everest, Lhotse and Nupse peaks, was given to the Everest Pollution Control Committee and the responsibility of hanging ropes up to the peak of Everest was given to the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal. Accordingly, the mobilized manpower has successfully hung ropes up to the peak of Everest at 10:25 on May 13, 2026 this morning. With this, the climbing has also been opened now.
The government has issued climbing permits to at least 492 fee-paying climbers this season, the highest number on record. With each climber requiring at least one guide, the total number of people on the mountain could exceed 1,000, according to expedition operators.
