NATHM Institute offering training in 6 disciplines including trekking guide

Nepal Tourism, Hotel and Mountaineering Institute (NATHM) has invited applications for six different types of training courses with the aim of producing skilled manpower in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The institute issued a public notice on Tuesday and invited applications from interested Nepali citizens for training courses ranging from trekking guide to diploma in culinary arts starting from the upcoming months of Bhadra and Asoj. This time, the institute has brought the opportunity of trekking guide training for a maximum of 500 people. For this 5-week training, people who have passed Plus Two or SEE and have experience in the trekking sector can apply.

Similarly, applications have also been opened for the 15-day trekking porter guide training with a quota of 110 people. The last date for applying for both these trainings is set for 29th Shrawan, while the training will start from 8th and 10th Bhadra, according to the institute.

In the hospitality sector, the institute has also invited applications for 3-month cook (basic food preparation), one-month bakery and one-month barista training. The cook and bakery training with a quota of 40 people and the barista training with a quota of 20 people will be conducted from 1st Asoj. In addition, applications for a one-year 'Diploma in Culinary Arts' have also been opened for 44 trainees, for which the form can be filled by 17th Bhadra and the classes will start from 12th Asoj.

In terms of training fees, the fees for trekking porter guides are 3,500 rupees and 10,000 rupees, while the fees for cook, bakery and barista are 30,000 and 24,000 rupees respectively. The fee for the one-year diploma course has been fixed at Rs 250,000. The institute has also set a condition that the training will be conducted only if there are at least 10 applicants for barista, 20 for bakery and cook, and 22 for the diploma course.

Interested applicants will have to submit the application form along with certificates of citizenship, educational qualifications, experience and a passport-sized photograph. The form can be obtained from the institute's office or website by paying a form fee of Rs 1,000, the notice states.
