Highest number of Tourist in Annapurna region
Two lakh 44 thousand 45 foreign tourists have entered the Annapurna region, a world-famous destination for trekking, in 2024. Among them, 132 thousand 94 are from South Asian countries and 111 thousand 951 are from other countries. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), this number is the highest so far. Previously, the highest number of 191,558 tourists visited the area in 2023.
In 2019, there were 181,000 tourists, but since then, the number of tourists has decreased due to the Covid-19 epidemic. A total of 16 thousand one hundred and five tourists visited the Annapurna region in 2021 during the epidemic. The next year, i.e. in 2022, a total of 129,733 tourists reached that area.
Every year, millions of domestic and foreign tourists visit the Annapurna base camp, Mardi Himal, Ghandruk, Tilicho Lake in Manang, Thorangla Bhanjyang, Upallo Mustang, Muktinath region, Ghodepani in Myagdi on the Annapurna cycle trail. The Annapurna Conservation Area project keeps only the statistics of foreign tourists who visit those destinations. The Annapurna conservation area spread over seven thousand six hundred square kilometers is considered an attractive destination for trekking.
Four years ago, the famous international travel site Lonely Planet listed the Annapurna cycle path as one of the ten must-see destinations in the world. Mustang Valley, which was included in the list of 23 must-visit destinations in the world in 2023 by the American news organization "CNN", is also located in the Annapurna Conservation Area. Annapurna region has become the choice of tourists due to its natural beauty, biological diversity, mountain life, culture etc.
Short, medium and long distance treks of the Annapurna region can be planned. In terms of attractive destination, tourism-friendly infrastructure, hospitality of local people and service facilities, Annapurna cycle path is considered to be the best for trekking.
