Annapurna circuit trekking

Annapurna circuit trekking

The Annapurna Circuit trekking is the popular trekking name for a 300 kilometer trek in Nepal; it includes the high pass Thorong-La. Annapurna trek reaches an altitude of 5,416 meters above Thorong La pass.

Annapurna circuit trek follows ancient paths used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet. Annapurna trail has long facilitated the flow of cultures and religions in this remote and formerly inaccessible region. Today Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, Hinduism and the mysterious Bon-PO religion still coexist and interpenetrate one another in the Annapurna region which contains many pilgrimage sites. Climbing Thorong La pass from Manang side is the best because it is so clipped and long way climbs from Muktinath side and ends the trek in Jomsom or Nayapul.

Asian Hiking Team recommend itinerary for Annapurna Circuit trekking start from Besi Sahar, “Lamjung district head quarter” 5 to 6 hours is driving from Kathmandu. Nowadays the seasonal road heads to Chame or Manang.

From Basi Sahar it takes 7-8 days to reach Thorong Phedi or High camp including one day acclimatization day in Manang. From Thorong Phedi/High Camp 8 to 10 hours walk to reach Muktinath.

There is a seasonable tea shop on the top. Explore the Hindus and Buddhist pilgrims temple Muktinath. There are server options from Muktinath either you can drive to Jomsom - Beni – Pokhara or you can fly from Jomsom or continue the trek to Jomsom – Tadapani – Ghorepani – Nayapul then Kathmandu. In our itinerary we continued the trek to Jomsom – Tatopani – Ghorepani – Nayapul then drove to Pokhara and Kathmandu.

The Annapurna circuit trek is possible combined with an Annapurna base camp trek within extra one week, continues from Tatopani to Ghorepani and entry to Annapurna Base Camp from Chhumrung and end trek in Nayapul.
