Helambu trekking lies just to the east of Kathmandu at a maximum elevation of 3510 meters. The Helambu region is inhabited by the Sherpa people. However, the Sherpa of Helambu observe a different culture and lifestyle than the Sherpa's of Khumbu region. They refer to themselves as Hyolmo Sherpa.
The Helambu trek is well-known for people who don't have much time in Nepal. The Helambu circuit trek is an easy week-long trek which starts in Kathmandu itself, but can be completed in as little as 5–6 days too. The normal trail head starts off at Sundarijal and goes past Chisopani - Kutumsang - Tharepati - Malemchigaun - Nakote and Hyolmo, than Tarke Gyang. You can continue on the mostly level footpath to Sermathang or drop to take a return bus at Talamarang. The beautiful terraced landscapes and the rustic villages of Helambu are alluring to many tourists.
There are routes over the pass, trekkers crossing the Laurebina Pass (4681 m) from either Langtang or direct up to Gosaikunda from Dunche can return to Kathmandu. Most trekkers if they have the time start with the Langtang trek, ascend to Gosaikunda and then descend into Helambu and then return to Kathmandu.
Day by day itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel trip briefing, overnight Hotel (BB).
Trekking Start 7 days
Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2175m) 4/5 hours, overnight hotel (BL/D).
Day 03: Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446 m) 6/7 hours, overnight lodge (B/L/D).
Day 04: Trek from Kutumsang to Thari pati (3650 m) 5/6 hours, overnight lodge (B/L/D).
Day 05: Trek from Thari pati to Melamchi Gaon (2640 m.), 5/6 hours, overnight lodge (B/L/D).
Day 06: Trek from Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeghyang (2743 m), 4/5 hours, overnight lodge (B/L/D).
Day 07: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2621 m), 4 hours, overnight lodge (B/L/D).
Day 08: Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846 m) and Drive to Kathmandu 7–8 hours, overnight hotel (B/L/D).
End Trekking
Day 09: Departure from Kathmandu or next trip (B).
Cost and payment details
The cost is depending on group size, affected due to the requirement of number of guides and porters, requisite of Hotel in Kathmandu, method of land/air transport. The itinerary is changeable and modifiable as per needs and time frame of trekkers. Cost will be re calculated if the itinerary is changed or modified. Notes: Payment should be made 20 % of total amount in advance. Full amount must be paid before your trip starts.
Cancellation should be made 48 hours before departure and 25% cancellation charge is applicable beside Tax, transportation, permits and others fixed expensive.
In case of incomplete Trekking / Tour / Rafting / Climbing / Expedition / Jungles safari / or others days due to the client own problem, the amount of money paid not refundable.
If clients want to go Trekking / Tour / Rafting / Climbing / Expedition / Jungles safari / or others tours more than itinerary, they can pay after back from tour with per day basic but should be permission with Tour guide / Leader.
