Nepal Rara National Park is located in the North-Western high mountains of Nepal. The park was built in 1976 to conserve the unique beauty of Lake Rara, and to protect the representative flora and fauna of the Humla-Jumla region. Rara Park is Nepal's smallest protected area, comprising an area of 106 sq. km. There were two villages, Rara and Chhapru within the park.
Rara Lake, also called Mahendra Tal, situated at an elevation of 2990 m. The Nepal Rara Lake is oval-shaped with an east-west axis, and has a maximum length of 5 km and a width of 3 km. Surrounded by magnificent conifer forests, it is Nepal's biggest lake (10.8 sq . km) with a depth of 167 m. Its radiant blue waters are home to the snow trout (Schizothorax oreinus sinuatus), the only fish recorded in the lake.
The best time of year to visit the park is September/October and April to May. December through March, the temperature drops to below freezing, and heavy snowfalls occur up to one meter. April to June is warm, but the season gives way to the monsoon season-June to August.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj flight, overnight hotel.
Day 02: Nepalgunj to Talcha airport flight then trek to Rara Lake (4 hours), overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Explore Rara Lake full day, overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Rara Lake to Talcha airport 3 hours then flight to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.
Option 2 by Land
Day 01 and Day 02: Kathmandu to Surkhet continues drive to Jumla by Bus and Jeep 20 hours.
Day 03: Jumla to Rara Lake drive by Jeep 4-7 hours.
Day 04: Walk around the Lake, rest day.
Day 05: Rara Lake to Jumla by Jeep, 4-7 hours.
Day 06 and Day 07: Jumla to Kathmandu drive by Jeep and Bus, 20-26 hours.
