Asia Hiking Team is only one trekking agency who organize the Island peak (6160m) climbing from Chhukum. The other trekking agencies also allow us to operate the climbing trip. In the peak season from Sep. to early Dec. and March to early June, our experience guide stays in Dingboche. Asian Hiking Team will collect all the necessary documents and insurance from the Kathmandu office. You can directly meet the guide whenever you are in Dingboche or Chhukum and start the trip to the base camp, then push to the summit.

Asian Hiking Team has a climbing gear store in Dingboche, so you do not need to carry heavy gear from Kathmandu. You need to check your equipment in Dingboche before heading to base camp. During the peak season time, we have fixed camping in Island peak base camp with all necessary kitchen and camping equipment. In the low season, we will carry all the camping equipment from Dingboche.

Island peak 6160 m derives its name, as the mountain looks like a sea of ice from along with one of the most enjoyable climbing experiences, scaling of the Imja TSE or Island Peak gets rewarded by some of the most spectacular scenery of the Himalayas in the Everest region. Once on the summit, you will see that the giant mountains, Nuptse (7,879 m), Lhotse (8,501 m), and Lhotse Shar (8,383 m) make a semicircle in the north. The views of Makalu (8475 m) in the east, Baruntse and Ama Dablam in the south add more charm in climbing Island Peak.

Asian Hiking Team organizes Island Peak climbing from Chhukum to Chhukim. You will meet our guide in Dingboche and check all the equipment. Make sure which day you want to climb the peak. As per your schedule, the guide meets you in Chhukum then continues the trek to Island Base Camp. After one night stay in base camp, very early morning push to the summit. You need to start at 1 or 2 am after hot breakfast. The trails heading to high camp, crampons points, cross the many kharpus. After that, you need to change your boot and start a real climb. After the summit returns to base camp, stay another night. The last day of our climbing trip we had hot breakfast then returning to Chhukum. After Chhukum you can do your trek as part of your program.

Climbing Schedule:

Meet Asian Hiking Team staff in Dingboche (Hotel Good Luck), check equipment whatever you need and briefing by climbing guide, check weather & make sure the summit final date, overnight stay yourself Hotel/Lodge. You can directly go from Dingboche to base camp with our guide. If you are planning to stay in Chhukum, our guide meets you early morning in Chhukum and heading to base camp together. 

Day 01: After breakfast, trek to Island Base camp 5100m and preparation class, 3–5 hours, overnight Tented camp (L/D).

Day 02: Early Morning Island peak (6160m) summit and return to Base Camp, 08–15 hours, overnight Tented camp (B/L/D).

Day 03: Hot camping breakfast in base camp and own way trekking to Chhukum and then continues trek as your own itinerary (B).

Note: Normally, there are no water in high camp, so climbers do not want overnight stay at High Camp, however if you are interested, please let us know. B= Breakfast, L= Lunch and D= Dinner.
