Funeral of Tamang, the world's youngest climber

The government has decided to bury the world's first youngest climber Shambhu Tamang with national honors. It has been decided to give him national honor on the recommendation of Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Notable participants including businessmen, climbers, laborers and officials of the All-Mountaineering Association were present at the funeral procession of Tamang's body at Maharajgunj at 8 am on Monday.

Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Janata Samajwadi Party leader and former minister Hisila Yami were also present at Tamang's funeral.

Shambhu Tamang born in Lisankhu village of Sindhupalachok, Mr. Tamang was the youngest person to reach the top of the world's highest peak Mt. Everest. He is one of the world famous climbers whose contribution in the field of mountain tourism is incomparable and unforgettable. He was awarded with various national and international awards and also served as an honorary member of various tourism umbrella organizations. His passion and enthusiasm for mountaineering have inspired and encouraged hundreds and thousands of other climbers. The demise of Shambhu Tamang is an irreplaceable loss to the mountaineering sector.
